A smaller heading, still legible

And where it starts to struggle — around body size, handwriting stops being a heading and starts being a liability.

Body copy — Work Sans

Primary ink. This is the level most of the writing on the site will sit at. The job here is to disappear: it should carry a long project write-up without asking for attention, so the headings and the artwork do the talking.

Secondary ink, for captions, dates, and supporting detail. Still legible, clearly subordinate.

Faint ink, for labels and rules. This is the level that breaks first if the paper gets too busy — worth watching.

The axes

Bounce and informality are runtime values, not separate fonts. Same file, same request — so game mode can get scrappier handwriting than the portfolio without loading anything extra.

A heading and body together in a contained block, which is roughly what a project card will be. The spacing scale can be derived from --dot-gap if you want cards to snap to the dots.
